Holistic Counselling - What to Expect

Healing isn't about fixing what is "wrong" with you. It's about creating the right environment for your mind, body, and nervous system to feel safe enough to heal.

At Guid-ed, holistic counselling is a compassionate, evidence-informed approach that honours the deep connection between your thoughts, emotions, physical health, nervous system, and lived experiences. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we gently explore the root causes of what you're experiencing, supporting lasting transformation from the inside out.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, burnout, chronic stress, autoimmune illness, grief, life transitions, low self-worth, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, our sessions provide a calm, supportive space where you can pause, breathe, and reconnect.

A Counselling Experience That Sees the Whole You

Every person who walks through the door has a unique story. That's why no two sessions are ever the same.

My approach combines traditional counselling skills with nervous system regulation and holistic wellbeing practices. Depending on your needs, we may draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Person-centred counselling

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Solution-Focused Therapy

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Energy Work - Reiki

  • Mindfulness & breathwork

  • Nervous system regulation & somatic techniques

  • Guided visualisation, meditation and hypnosis

  • Journalling and reflective practices

Everything is offered with your consent and tailored to what feels most supportive for you in that moment.

Before We Begin

Whether we're meeting online or in person, you'll be welcomed into a calm, grounded environment designed to help you feel safe, comfortable, and fully present.

We begin each session with a few gentle moments to settle. This might include conscious breathing, grounding techniques, or simply taking a moment to arrive before we begin talking. There is no pressure to rush into difficult conversations.

Exploring What's Present

Our sessions are led by you.

You are invited to bring whatever feels most important that day, whether that's a current challenge, difficult emotions, relationship patterns, stress, physical symptoms, or simply a feeling that something doesn't feel quite right.

Together, we'll gently explore what is beneath the surface with curiosity rather than judgement.

Throughout the session, we'll work to identify patterns, uncover limiting beliefs, build self-awareness, and understand how your thoughts, emotions, body, and nervous system interact.

If you're living with chronic illness or autoimmune disease, we may also explore the impact stress, emotional wellbeing, boundaries, lifestyle, and nervous system dysregulation can have on your overall health, always alongside appropriate medical care.

Practical Support for Everyday Life

Holistic counselling isn't just about understanding yourself, it's about creating meaningful, sustainable change.

Together we may:

  • Develop healthier coping strategies

  • Build emotional resilience

  • Learn techniques to regulate your nervous system

  • Strengthen self-compassion and confidence

  • Create healthier boundaries

  • Explore values and life direction

  • Set realistic, supportive goals between sessions

You may also receive reflective journal prompts, mindfulness practices, or gentle exercises to continue your healing between appointments.

A Space That Moves at Your Pace

Healing is never forced.

Some sessions may feel emotional, while others are centred around insight, practical problem-solving, or simply creating space to be heard.

There is no expectation to have all the answers. You don't need to prepare, perform, or explain yourself perfectly. My role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance, compassion, and evidence-based therapeutic support while respecting your own inner wisdom.

Optional Spiritual Practices

For clients who feel drawn to a more spiritual approach, we can incorporate optional practices such as an oracle card pull at the end of the session.

This is simply an additional reflective tool that many clients find meaningful for exploring themes, intention, and personal insight. If spirituality isn't part of your journey, that's absolutely okay, our sessions are always adapted to what feels right for you.

Closing the Session

We finish as we began, taking a few moments to slow down and integrate what has emerged.

Together, we'll reflect on any key insights, discuss any supportive practices for the week ahead, and choose an affirmation or intention that feels aligned with your healing journey.

You'll leave with greater clarity, practical tools, and a deeper connection to yourself.

Healing Is a Journey, Not a Destination

Counselling isn't about becoming someone new. It's about remembering who you are beneath the stress, expectations, and survival patterns that life can create.

At guid-ed, my intention is to offer a safe, compassionate space where you feel truly seen, heard, and supported. A space where healing unfolds naturally, one conversation, one breath, and one step at a time.

If you're ready to reconnect with yourself and begin healing from the inside out, I'd be honoured to support you on your journey.

All my love,

Lucy
